As of 2005, the San Antonio Parks Foundation manages and operates the Japanese Tea Garden and Jingu House in Brackenridge Park by way of a Memorandum of Understanding approved by the San Antonio City Council, which resulted in the successful renovation, preservation, and re-opening of the garden. The San Antonio Parks Foundation raised $2 million to develop the Japanese Tea Garden Master Plan, garden lighting, and restoration of the ponds, waterfall, and Jingu House. Completed in phases, the garden was re-opened to the public in 2008.
Do you love the Japanese Tea Garden? We do too, and we’re working to protect it for the enjoyment of generations to come. Join us on our mission to preserve and program this historic public space by purchasing a membership or donating to the Jingu Family Fund for the Arts.
